Wednesday, May 16th   1:00-10:00 p.m. @ the Mauer's, then Peteetneet for DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE

NO ACTOR leaves Peteetneet once we're there. Please call for help from a family member if you forget something vital. Performance time is 7 p.m. both nights.
May 15th details – Be at Peteetneet by 9:45 a.m., figure out the details of how to use the stage, exits, where to put props, costume changes, how to use their sound/stereo, lights, set up chairs, etc. Full dress rehearsal. Have moms bring lunch. Around 5 or 5:30 eat dinner (will probably pick up pizzas).
May 16th details - Be at THE MAUER'S @ 1 pm for costuming, stage make-up and transporting props, etc. In cars headed to Peteetneet by 3:30 (On Wednesday our rental doesn't begin until 4 pm so we need to prep beforehand at Sister Mauer's and then hurry!).
Elite Speech and Debate students – on Wednesday just arrive as soon as you can after your final class with Mr Martineau ends. In fact, invite him to the play! We know this is your last class of the year so we're not asking you to leave it early, but please make arrangements with one another and carpool over quickly once you've had a chance to say your good-byes. We need you there as soon as you can. Costumes and make-up will need to be done extremely quickly once you arrive so plan accordingly.

Jobs
For Moms, Dads or older siblings (14 or older)
  1. Moms – can some of you bring us lunch on Tuesday, our longest day? Food at 12:30 would be great. Please let us know which of you can help and plan together.
  2. Moms - we need a few drivers to carpool kids from the Mauer's on Wednesday to Peteetneet. Our van will be very loaded with props and the majority of the kids with licenses will be at Speech and Debate.
  3. We will need someone manning the lights AND another person for the sound system and need them available Tuesday AND Wednesday. Tuesday from 10 a.m. on and Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. on. Let us know if you have someone in mind for us to consider.
  4. We need an adult who can collect money Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:15-7:15 p.m.
EveryoneWe can use everyone's help putting away the chairs and cleaning. We need to remove ALL props and costumes since we are not able to keep them there even from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Cost
Since there is a cost for the building we will charge for tickets but not for
immediate family of the Shakespeare cast; for everyone else we're thinking $2/person, $10/ family, $20/ward's youth group. Let your family, friends and young women's and men's groups know. This is their chance to support you!
AddressPeteetneet 10 North 600 East, Payson, Utah 84651
The parking lot is very small so most people will need to park on the street. Enter through the doors on the west.
Concessions – not sure if we are doing anything with this yet. We absolutely do not want a noisy audience nor a major clean-up afterwards.

April 12 - ALL of play memorized

We need to be off script for the ENTIRE play this week. We will work on Act 5 and then as much of Acts 1-4 as we have time for this Thursday and then Saturday we will try to go through the whole play start to finish.  You need all your lines memorized. NO SCRIPTS.  Practice in the mirror, with a tape recording, with family members. Practice until you can nearly say it in your sleep. Repetition, repetition. Ask a parent to honestly tell you what you need to work on and have them help you.
Also, every Saturday from now on is play practice.

We've talked about this many times but remember that truly memorizing comes in stages:

  • Getting comfortable with saying the words, pronouncing them correctly.
  • Getting good inflection in your voice - making it sound interesting, speaking clearly and precisely, pausing when needed, but no hesitation otherwise.
  • Remembering the cue (line) right before yours so you know when it's your turn to speak.
  • Knowing your lines so well you have confidence and can have fun. Way less stress this way!!
  • Facial expressions, body language, actions, feeling like you are "in character." If your character is "Sam," don't play the part of Sam, BE Sam!
  • Have fun with it! When you enjoy what you're doing, the audience has more fun too.
